How to clean taps and mixers

How to clean taps and mixers

Recommendations and advice to keep taps, mixers and shower heads clean and shiny over time

What to do

We recommend cleaning the product surface every day by wiping it using exclusively a soft cloth and water (whether it be in a chrome, golden or painted finishing). Take care to dry immediately any drops or water build-ups since they may lead to the formation of lime scale deposits that could be difficult to remove at a later time.

What to do

If the limestone were deposited on taps and mixers, as an alternative to water alone, you could clean the surface with water and soap or mild detergent. However, we recommend not to spray cleaners directly on taps , mixers or showers, but on a soft cloth, then use this one to clean the areas concerned. Finally, after cleaning them, rinse the taps, mixers and showers with clean water, then dry them carefully.

What not to do

Never use detergents, abrasives, solvents, chemicals, products containing muriatic acid, ammonia, acetone, bleach, household acids, various disinfectants, rough and/or metal scouring pads and/or sponges that may irremediably spoil the product surface.

What not to do

Shower heads and shower columns

In case of shower heads and shower columns, we recommend their frequent use (at least once every 5 days), to prevent the formation of limestone. A very sporadic use, in fact, favors limestone sedimentation, and the subsequent occurrence of malfunctions and abnormal water spurts. We also recommend that you periodically press lightly on silicon nozzles to free them from limestone formation within them (anti-scale nozzle Fast & Easy Clean system with a simple movement of your hand).

Taps and mixers made of stainless steel

Fir Italia taps and mixers and shower heads in stainless steel AISI 316L ensure long lasting durability. However, products are subjected to constant stress with daily use and therefore daily care and specific treatments are essential to preserve the beauty of stainless steel surfaces.

In particular, we strongly recommend drying any drops or water build-ups on the product thoroughly with a soft cloth.

Taps and mixers made of stainless steel

Do not leave wet cloths or sponges on stainless steel to prevent the formation of unsightly water stains. Do not leave iron tools in contact with stainless steel surfaces, as doing so may cause corrosion by contact. Do not use abrasive sponges or steel wool that may scratch surfaces. Never for any reason use detergents containing chlorine or its compounds (bleach, muriatic acid, descaling solvent, etc.) as doing so could corrode the composition of stainless steel, irreparably staining or oxidizing the surface. It is generally best not to leave opened packets or bottles of detergent or other chemical acid composition products in proximity of stainless steel taps and mixers: the fumes may in some cases oxidize and corrode the stainless steel.

Taps and mixers with Swarovski® crystals

Products embellished with Swarovski® crystals are made by highly qualified craftsmen and are part of the exclusive Glamour Style program, which imagines and “dresses” bathroom products with valuable materials, rich in allure. Swarovski® crystals are delicate elements and therefore must be handled with special care. To ensure that the product remains in the best possible condition over time and to maximize brilliance, polish thoroughly with a soft, lint-free cloth and clean by hand with warm water (do not soak). Avoid contact with harsh, abrasive materials and glass/window cleaners.

For these reasons, we recommend taking special care to thoroughly dry water build-up after each use to prevent the formation of lime scale. For more detailed instructions, refer to the website www.swarovski.com.
