LifeSteel® collection has been awarded with the ADI Compasso D'Oro Honourable Mention

Fir Italia, and specifically its LifeSteel® collection, has been awarded the Honourable Mention for the 26th ADI Compasso d’Oro in the “Design for living” category at the new ADI Design Museum.

The award, conceived in 1954 by “La Rinascente” and later gifted to ADI, which has been running it continuously since 1956, is the most prestigious accolade for the production and design quality of goods, services, processes and systems of Italian design. The awarded products are collected and this has resulted in the largest historical design Collection, which in 2004 was declared “asset of national interest”. The Award is assigned every three years by an international Jury, specifically appointed, to products nominated by ADI, the Industrial Design Association, which every year selects and publishes the best products launched on the market in a book, the ADI Design Index.

Last year, the LifeSteel® collection designed by Francesco Lucchese (Art Director of the brand), had been officially selected for publishing in the ADI DESIGN INDEX by the permanent ADI Design Observatory, consisting of over 100 experts, divided in commissions that operate at three different levels, Territorial Commissions, Thematic Commissions, Final Selection Commission, according to a strict working method and exclusive criteria of merit.

The LifeSteel® collection is part of Green Total Look, the completely “green” range of stainless steel taps, featuring the use of environmentally compatible materials, “energy saving” and water saving solutions and an ultra-minimalist design.

The LifeSteel® mixer is fashioned from a single AISI 316L stainless steel piece, where matter is transformed by techniques that are reminiscent of the craftsmanship applied to blocks of marble or solid wood.

AISI 316L stainless steel is an especially versatile material that is well suited to a right-angled, ultra-minimalist design that is avant-garde in the shapes, in the style and in the care for every aesthetic detail. In LifeSteel® the handle becomes a well-proportionate and ergonomic cylindrical element, placed sideways. The body therefore takes centre stage: a choice that completely uncovers the dispensing spout, with a design of the utmost neatness and elegance, and with a strongly functional result that does away with the anti-aesthetic points where dirt accumulates and oxidisation might occur.

A linear and geometric design, which breaks new ground, exploiting the features of stainless steel to give a new slant to the right-angled style, achieving extremely thin shapes, such as the dispensing spout that is only 6 mm thick.
